Japan is Committed to Fostering Greater Cultural Cooperation with Cambodia

PHNOM PENH: Japan has expressed a commitment to fostering greater cultural cooperation with Cambodia, which includes continuing joint-conservation and development efforts.

This commitment was shared by the Ambassador of Japan to Cambodia, Ueno Atsushi, during a meeting with the Minister of Culture and Fine Arts, Phoeurng Sackona, on Thursday, 20 April 2023.

The Japanese Ambassador pledged to do his utmost to enhance cultural cooperation between the two countries during his diplomatic mission in the Kingdom.

He also expressed his appreciation for Cambodia’s rich culture, which he said he was recently able to partake in and witness firsthand at Angkor Sankrata in Siem Reap province during the Khmer New Year.

Minister Phoeurng Sackona also spoke highly of the good collaboration in culture and arts between Cambodia and Japan, especially regarding the support Japan has provided for the conservation of ancient temples and the development of Cambodia's tangible and intangible cultural heritage.

She said she is positive that Japan will continue to support such work and welcomed further Cambodia-Japan cultural efforts to commemorate the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
